The nephew of Samajwadi Abu Azmi party leader Abu Aslam Azmi was summoned on Wednesday by the Goa unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (BNC) in connection with the case related to drug trafficker Sufran Lakdawala.
In a statement, the NCB said Abu Aslam Azmi’s name appeared during the interrogation of Lakdawala who was arrested on July 8.
“In the Sufran Lakdawala drug case, the Goa NCB team summoned a person named Abu Aslam Azmi for questioning today. Abu Aslam Azmi is close to a top Samajwadi party leader. , Lakdawala was arrested on Mira Road with cocaine, ”NCB said in the statement.
He further indicated that Lakdawala allegedly supplied drugs to large industrialists and people linked to the film industry in Mumbai.
“Aslam Azmi’s name appeared during the interrogation of Sufran Lakdawala, after which he was summoned today for questioning at the NCB office in Goa,” NCB added.
In 2017, Abu Aslam Azmi was arrested for alleged involvement in drug trafficking.
