A pedophile who led an abuse campaign warns of a long prison sentence

A pedophile who admitted 15 counts of child sexual abuse has been warned that he faces a lengthy prison sentence for his crimes.

John Gardner, of Athelstan Road, Kettering, admitted the offenses which took place over an extended period of time, starting when his victim was only six years old.

The 46-year-old admitted nine counts of assaulting a girl under 13, five counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by penetration and one count of inciting a girl under age 13 to engage in sexual activity.

Northampton Crown Court has learned that the offenses started in 2007 and continued for the next seven years, with the last offense occurring in 2014.

After the admissions, Judge Adrienne Lucking QC adjourned the sentencing to allow for a pre-sentence report and an investigation into the offender’s mental capacity.

However, she told Gardner he was facing a long prison sentence for his offenses committed over an “extended period”.

The case has been adjourned and the 46-year-old will be sentenced during the week starting January 17 at Northampton Crown Court.
