APICAT is committed to developing youth leadership in the tobacco control movement. Along with funding
youth related projects through the mini-contracts program, APICAT works with youth to build their capacity as peer educators to be a resource to the community and its youth.
APICAT is also available to provide technical assistance to organizations working with youth on tobacco control issues. For more information, contact Eric Mose.
-PHOTO VOICE PROJECT-
The Photo Voice Project is a cross cultural youth effort that began in the Spring of 2008 to examine tobacco industry targeting.
Youth representing the African American, Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) and Lesbian/Gay/Bi-
Sexual/Transgender (LGBT) communities were brought together to participate in a Tobacco 101 and Photo Voice Training. They then worked within their respective groups identifying communities to document using Photo Voice mapping.
On Saturday, October 11, 2008 a celebration was held for the youth to present their final projects. Below you will find their research and reports.
